Dear parents this is a letter from the students of Year 3 Green.
Term 3 has been great, fabulous, awesome and brilliant.
We had a fantastic day at the Schoenstatt Shrine! We got to meet a nun called Sister Lisette. She was super funny, kind and jubilant. She taught us about reconciliation by talking about Kung Fu Panda. She even did some cool Kung Fu moves! She was fun to be around.
We got to sit inside the actual shrine (it’s like a really tiny church). We only just fit! We discovered God’s greatest treasure……(We won’t spoil it for the Year 2s but maybe if you ask us we’ll whisper the secret in your ear.)
In Art we’ve been mixing colours to make our Uluru frames and are starting our Father’s day art projects (we won’t spoil this surprise either).
We’ve been using our iPads a lot in Religion. We scanned QR codes to find hidden videos about John the Baptist. Mr. Carbone showed us how to take notes for our information reports and recounts. We also learned that reconciliation comes from the word reconcile which means to come back together. We enjoyed making comic strips and prayer cards.
We enjoyed being at the penance workshop and listening to Mrs. Dwyer’s stories. Thank you mums and dads for taking us to the workshop. We are grateful that you gave up your time to help us with our activities. We felt it was a lovely thing to do and we were really excited to be there with you. It was wonderful that you could come.

P.S. Mr Carbone says there will be some photos of the retreat and book week costumes below.

We have had a wonderful last week of term.
We had heaps of fun in Maths this week, learning about time, division and quadrilaterals (they are four sided shapes). Please check SEESAW and our pictures below to see what we have been up to.
We completed all our literacy activities for the term this week, including our best narratives yet! (We will show you more of this work next term). We really had a blast doing dictation and spelling groups!
Speaking of next term if you haven’t found our Spelling Bee word lists they should be in our homework bags. We will be having a class spelling competition using these words in early June.
This week we also learnt all about Easter and can’t wait to show you what we created during our Art and Religion lessons….If we don’t eat them first!!
We got to go to the special room in the library and learnt what it was like to be part of the last supper today.
We finished this week with a liturgy in the church. Thank you to the Year 5 and 6 students who presented the Easter story for us. We loved it!
Wishing you a fantastic Easter and magnificent holidays!

We have had a very busy term so far in 3G.
We wanted to share some of the things that we have enjoyed learning about.
We have learnt about number strategies and problem solving.
It’s been great fun splitting numbers and working out how to solve tricky questions. We also got to learn about area and perimeter and use blocks as well as centimetres to measure different shapes.
Mental maths has helped us a lot too and every day we get faster and faster!
In Writing we’ve been learning about persuasive letters and narratives. We can put persuasive words into our paragraphs to make them even more convincing.
Learning how to create a story mountain has been really exciting and our narratives now have sizzling starts.
We know how to spot unhealthy and healthy food at the shops as well as how the healthy eating guide works.
Our portraits look almost like real life.
We know about the Ten Commandments
AND we are getting pretty good at explaining all the different types of grammar rules (there’s lots!)
We can’t wait to show you our artwork and some of the other things that we have been learning about. So please check back next week and check SEESAW as well.
